Kids Having Fun At Bang Tao Phuket Mini Golf
It was on Christmas Day that we took a drive looking for 'Adventure Mini Golf' which just opened in the area of Bang Tao Beach Phuket. I had read about it somewhere online, sounded interesting. Phuket already has a very well-known operation of mini golf at Dino Park, Kata Beach. We've been several times. And years ago there was a place called Pirate Mini Golf in Patong. It closed more than 10 years ago and still has not been mentioned on many sites! Well, being that it is Christmas, I think the kids might enjoy some mini golf.I imagine that this adventure Mini Golf will be right on the waterfront with views of the sea and swaying palm trees .. of course it's stupid - beach land is too expensive! We drove to Bang Tao from home, and we did not go this way too often. Mini golf is located in Bang Tao quiet street at the southern end of Bang Tao Beach near Sunwing Resort. I think it has been years since I last drove on this road! Christmas day but very quiet - this is an area that is totally different from the main Phuket beach. There are hotels, restaurants, and then patch meadow with chicken or buffalo. Not much round here! Mini golf was signposted, and we found it quite easy. Not too expensive for mini golf - Adult 280 Baht, children 200 (and yes, it was half the price for Thai people). There is a little practice green near the entrance. My dear wife decided cold drinks better than hitting a golf ball on a hot day (mad dogs and Englishmen). The Adventure Mini Golf has a bar and restaurant with a dozen tables. We found out later that they open into the evening (until 11pm) with happy hour 5-7 - the restaurant was not even open when we arrived - too early! I think we may go back again one evening for a meal and a couple of mini golf. Me and the kids took a scorecard and toward the hole 1. It was soon evident that children will not keep score. Come on, kids .. take your fun seriously! I gave up keeping score after a while too. Children were in the hole 12 by the time I have done the holes 6. I got a hole in one on hole 6, the third attempt :)
The place is very well built and very neat. Maybe a little too neat - I was expecting a little more adventurous! I think the gardens and trees need time to grow. Maybe some of the 18 holes requires more features than just stone and false bunker. There are several water hazards but when I was a kid, a mini golf course in a holiday resort in the UK has a tunnel and windmill and .. or maybe I just remember it being more adventurous when I was a kid! Our kids enjoyed this one, even if they do not keep score. It helped that we were one of only three families during the hours we spent there. rather quiet location, I hope they can survive, may need more promotion. Dino Park Mini Golf, Kata is in a prime location. one in Bang Tao is more difficult to find. They have a website, but I can not say I've never seen this place advertised a lot.
The menu looks good in the restaurant. The staff were all friendly. We have some Coke, it was a hot day. I guess because it was not crowded, no one rushed us .. me and the kids can play the same hole several times, mess around, enjoying Christmas on the golf course :) Glad to have tried this place and we will be back .. would be ideal to go out with friends, let the kids go play golf .. maybe "competitive Dad" will join them and go for the record only after a few beers and pizza. My son still perfecting his style puts ...
